PPC Group is expanding its presence in the Italian renewable energy market with the launch of two new photovoltaic (PV) plants in central Italy, Carcarello (20 MW) and Luxenia (12 MW), totaling 32 MW in installed capacity.
These plants, set to be completed shortly, will utilize over 55,000 bifacial panels and are expected to generate more than 60 GWh annually, enough to power nearly 15,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 37,200 tonnes.
As part of its three-year strategic plan, PPC Group is set to increase its renewable energy capacity by an additional 6.3 GW by 2027, reaching a total of 11.8 GW. Over 60% of this new capacity is already under construction or ready to begin, with the newly launched solar plants in Italy playing a key role in this ambitious expansion.
The Deputy CEO for Renewable Energy at PPC Group, Konstantinos Mavros, emphasized that this move reflects the company’s strategy to become a key energy player in Southeastern Europe. He noted that these plants are just the beginning, with continuous projects planned through 2027 to further diversify and expand the company’s green portfolio.
This initiative is part of a broader agreement with Metlen Energy & Metals for renewable energy projects in four Southeast European countries. PPC Group’s total installed renewable energy capacity is now approximately 5.5 GW, with 1.5 GW located in Romania.
