The joint venture (JV) of UK-based renewables asset manager Windel Energy and Canadian Solar Inc’s Recurrent Energy has been granted a development permit for their 350MW Mallard Pass Solar Farm in England.
The development consent order (DCO) was issued by the British Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on Friday.
The Mallard Pass photovoltaic (PV) farm is planned to be installed on agricultural land across parts of South Kesteven, Lincolnshire, and Rutland. The complex will be sited near a National Grid substation at Uffington Lane and is expected to generate around 350,000 MWh of green power annually, equal to the electricity consumption of about 92,000 British homes.
The DCO application for the Mallard Pass project was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in November 2022 and an examination was launched in May last year. was required as the proposed capacity exceeds 50 MW and the scheme is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).
