Renewable energy developer Renova is all set to launch a grid storage battery business in Japan. This is the first grid storage battery business for Renova Group.
For this, the company formed a joint venture Himeji Energy Storage Facility Godo Kaisha.
It has been informed that Himeji has already inked a project finance agreement with SMFL MIRAI Partners Co. The joint venture also consists of Idemitsu Kosan and NAGASE & Co.
According to Renova Group, its new role will support in making renewable power a major power source.
A local report mentioned, “As the amount of electricity generated by renewable power fluctuates depending on weather and hour bands, the storage operation is expected to contribute to stabilising power grids and increasing installed capacity of renewable energy power.”
Renova further informed that it will continue to develop grid storage batteries and renewable energy power plants with storage batteries in Japan and beyond.
The company aims to contribute to the decarbonisation of the countries.
