Sigma, which obtained the declaration of business investment of strategic interest from the Government of Andalusia, is a mega photovoltaic solar complex, made up of five parks -Arco 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-, all of which are already connected to the grid. Repsol estimates that Sigma will produce about 430 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, "enough to supply 43,000 homes." The company estimates that the energy generated by its solar complex will avoid the emission of a total of 191,000 tons of CO2 per year (that would be the amount of greenhouse gases that a plant that burns fossil fuels would produce to produce those 430 gigawatt hours of energy electrical). Repsol assures that its Sigma project "has led to the creation of more than 500 direct jobs during the construction phase." Sigma is the third photovoltaic solar project that Repsol puts into operation in Spain, after Valdesolar, (264 megawatts) in the municipality from Valdecaballeros (Badajoz) and Kappa (126.6 megawatts), in Manzanares (Ciudad Real). The oil company run by Josu Jon Imaz, which currently has 2,041 megawatts of wind, solar and hydroelectric energy installed in the country, has proposed as a "strategic objective" to have 6,000 megawatts of renewable power installed in 2025, so almost It will have to triple those just over 2,000 megabytes in less than 24 months.
