Solarvest and NCT Group Launch Phase One of Malaysia’s First Solar-Ready Industrial Park

Solarvest Holdings Berhad and the NCT Group of Companies have announced the commencement of Phase One of their collaborative development project at the NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP). This ambitious initiative will transform NSIP into the first solar-ready industrial park in Malaysia, featuring over 270 factories.

The project represents a significant milestone in advancing sustainable industrial infrastructure within the region. By integrating solar capabilities from the outset, Solarvest and NCT Group aim to streamline solar adoption, making clean energy more accessible, affordable, and appealing to business owners.

NCT Group, the developer behind NSIP and Malaysia’s first Certified Managed Industrial Park (MIP), is leveraging bulk purchasing for solar systems, leading to considerable cost savings for factory owners. This approach simplifies the adoption of clean energy by removing the complexities of individual solar procurement.

“We believe this strategy will greatly expedite the adoption of solar energy across Malaysian factories,” stated Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy, Founder and Group Managing Director of NCT Group. “We are thrilled to enhance our smart industrial park with solar technology. As Malaysia’s largest solar developer, Solarvest’s extensive expertise and strong financial track record make them the perfect partner for the success of NSIP.”

Davis Chong, Executive Director and Group CEO of Solarvest, emphasized, “Our developer model is revolutionary in accelerating the transition to net-zero emissions for the commercial and industrial sectors. By incorporating solar systems during the development stage, we can reduce Scope 2 emissions right from the start of the supply chain. This strategy is aligned with our mission to provide reliable, accessible, and affordable clean energy solutions.”

Upon project completion, the solar PV system installation for each factory is expected to be completed within six to eight months. The factories are projected to install a total of 36,000 kWp of solar capacity, which will offset approximately 25,515 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

“We are excited to embark on this journey with Solarvest,” added Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy. “Our partnership marks a significant step toward realizing our vision of a net-zero emissions industrial park by 2050. As pioneers of the AI-Low Carbon Industrial Park framework, we are committed to setting new benchmarks for future industrial developments.”

The NSIP project exemplifies the strong collaboration between Solarvest and NCT Group in promoting solar energy. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) also includes provisions for decarbonisation services for NCT Group’s local facilities. Future collaboration may extend to other renewable energy sectors, including bioenergy, hydrogen, energy efficiency, and electric mobility.
