Sonelgaz and the Centre for the Development of Renewable Energies sign cooperation agreements in Algeria


In a significant move towards advancing renewable energy initiatives, Sonelgaz, Algeria’s leading energy company, has entered into two key cooperation agreements with the Renewable Energy Development Center. The agreements, signed at the Directorate of Communications in Algeria, mark a milestone in the nation’s quest for sustainable energy solutions.


Under the first agreement, Sonelgaz and the Renewable Energy Development Center will collaborate on conducting a comprehensive technical-economic study for a specialized unit dedicated to producing green hydrogen, a renewable energy source. This initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.


In the second agreement, the two entities will embark on a site selection study to identify optimal locations for establishing facilities dedicated to green hydrogen production. This strategic endeavor aligns with Algeria’s long-term vision of harnessing renewable energy resources to meet growing energy demands while mitigating environmental impact.


The signing ceremony, presided over by Mr. Mourad Adjali, CEO of Sonelgaz, and attended by key executives and researchers, underscores the importance placed on scientific research and collaboration in advancing Algeria’s energy sector. Professor Nour Eddine Abdelbaki, Director of the Renewable Energy Development Center, hailed Sonelgaz’s commitment to scientific research, emphasizing the significance of this partnership in fostering innovation and sustainable development.
