Spanish solar contractor GRS has secured a contract to construct a 167-MWp solar farm cluster in the Seville province of southern Spain, the company announced on Thursday.
The project, named Carmen, will consist of four solar farms and will be located in the town of Carmona, covering more than 270 hectares (667 acres) and featuring over 230,000 solar modules. The selection of GRS came after a competitive bidding process led by Spanish fund manager Everwood Capital. According to Everwood's managing director, Hugo Alvarez, GRS was chosen for submitting the most competitive technical and economic proposal.
This development marks GRS’s largest project in Spain to date, following several previous solar installations in the Seville area. The company is also currently involved in two other major projects in Spain and Portugal, with additional operations in Australia.
For Everwood Capital, the Carmen project represents a significant milestone for its V Fund, being a large-scale initiative located in one of the most solar-rich regions of Spain, which is expected to bolster their investment strategy, Alvarez noted.
