Leading research and development manufacturer Sungrow will supply its ees award winning 2023 energy storage C&I system, PowerStack, to three projects during the months of September and October. The PowerStack is a battery energy storage system (BESS), designed to meet the needs of commercial-industrial self-consumption projects and small generation plants. This solution will be used to hybridize two generation plants in the province of Jaén. Each of these projects will have a capacity of 500 kilovolt-amperes (kVA) and 1,140 kilowatt hours (kWh). With this solution, energy will be supplied from battery storage for 2 hours.
On the other hand, the third project, located in Guadalajara, will provide energy to an industrial plant. Sungrow will supply both the storage system and the photovoltaic inverters to this industrial self-consumption facility. One of the most important aspects as it is a zero discharge is the EMS control and monitoring system. The EMS optimizes the generation curve and adapts production to the consumption needs of the company and thus maximizes self-consumption of renewable energy.
One of the most important aspects of the PowerStack is its innovative liquid cooling system. Liquid cooling stands out over air cooling for being more homogeneous and stable, avoiding temperature gradients. In this case, the PowerStack achieves great homogeneity in the temperature of the battery cabinet. Reducing the maximum temperature difference between cells to only 2.5ºC. The temperature uniformity allows us to prolong the life of the LFP battery. Additionally, the energy consumption of the auxiliary systems is much lower, as the liquid is a better thermal conductor than air. Finally, the PowerStack is fully assembled at the factory, so its installation and subsequent start-up is done in record time, reducing the CAPEX of the project and speeding up field work.
