Tata Power Renewable Energy to set up 200-MW solar project in Rajasthan



A unit of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Co Ltd (TPTCL) in relation to the planned construction of a 200-MW/280-MWp solar power plant in the Indian state of Rajasthan.


The contract between TP Saurya Ltd (TPSL) and TPTCL has a term of 25 years and is tied to a project at Bikaner that is estimated to produce some 485 million kWh of electricity annually. The solar power plant is expected to be commissioned by March 2024 and will be connected to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) Bus.


The renewables development arm of Tata Power Co Ltd said in a statement that, with the signing of this contract, it expands its portfolio to 6,788 MW. This includes 3,917 MW of installed capacity divided between 2,989 MW of solar and 928 MW of wind, and 2,871 MW under various stages of implementation.
