The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has launched the bidding process for the 280 MWac Srinagarind Dam Floating Solar Project 3 in Kanchanaburi Province.
Thidade Eiamsai, EGAT’s Deputy Governor for Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy, confirmed that the project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028. It forms part of EGAT’s broader strategy to expand clean energy generation.
The facility will install floating solar panels on the reservoir of the Srinagarind Dam, utilizing existing hydropower infrastructure to reduce generation costs and maintain affordable electricity prices.
This initiative is aligned with Thailand’s Power Development Plan 2018–2037 (Revision 1), which outlines the rollout of floating solar projects across EGAT’s dam reservoirs nationwide, targeting a combined capacity of 2,725 MW by 2037.
