Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Sime Darby Property Berhad have forged a groundbreaking partnership, aiming to accelerate sustainable energy initiatives within Sime Darby Property’s Township developments. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marks a pivotal step in advancing Malaysia’s clean energy aspirations and solidifying a shared commitment to a more environmentally sustainable future.
“Our collaboration signifies a joint commitment to steering a sustainable energy transition,” stated Dato’ Seri Ir. Baharin Din, President, and Chief Executive Officer of TNB. “Through this MoU, our aim is to make a substantial contribution to Malaysia’s clean energy goals, in sync with the vision of achieving 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050.”
The MoU, sealing the partnership in sustainable development, was signed by TNB Chief Retail Officer, Kamal Arifin A. Rahman, and Sime Darby Property Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Mohd Sohimin Mohd Alayedin. This marks a significant milestone in their collaborative effort towards advancing a low-carbon future, witnessed by TNB Chairman, Dato’ Abdul Razak Abdul Majid.
This expanded collaboration builds upon TNB’s previous joint efforts with Sime Darby Property in creating Smart Green Home solutions in Elmina Grove, City of Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor, showcasing a shared commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
Expressing enthusiasm about this extended collaboration, Baharin stated, “This partnership underscores our joint pursuit of achieving Net Zero 2050 and implementing sustainable practices within our operations and communities. It underscores TNB’s leadership in facilitating a responsible energy transition and underscores our dedication to leveraging innovative solutions for a sustainable future.”
