Tokyo Gas Group to install 1.7 MW of solar for own use in Japan

Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Co Ltd will install about 1.7 MW of solar power systems on two idle sites in Kanagawa prefecture to supply clean power to facilities controlled by parent Tokyo Gas Co Ltd

Construction is set to start in June 2023, with the aim of starting supply by the end of the same year.

The solar farms will be non-FiT, meaning they will not benefit from the country's feed-in-tariff (FiT) scheme.

Under a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA), the solar portfolio output will be delivered to Tokyo Gas, acting as the retail electricity provider, which will in turn feed the clean power to its facilities -- the Hamamatsucho Head Office Building and the TGES District Heating and Cooling Centre.

Tokyo Gas noted that this initiative will reduce its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 1,320 tonnes per year.
