Elgin Energy’s 330MW Barwon Solar Farm in Victoria, Australia, has been fast-tracked by the state government.
Located in Little River, 44km southwest of Melbourne’s CBD, the project benefits from abundant solar resources and proximity to grid capacity with 500kV and 220kV transmission lines, allowing connection to the National Electricity Market (NEM).
The solar farm will feature around 540,690 single-axis tracking PV modules, reaching a maximum height of 3.2 metres when fully tilted.
In addition, a 250MW/500MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) has been fast-tracked, including approximately 136 inverters on concrete foundations.
Initially aiming for operation in 2025, the project’s timeline remains subject to planning approval.
