Voltalia has commenced work on three new solar power plants in southern France, with a combined capacity of 25.1 megawatts.
The first project, located on a 15-hectare site of agricultural wasteland, will feature a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 10.7 megawatts. Advanced trackers and a tailored irrigation system will be implemented, enabling the restoration of farming activities on the land.
The other two projects are solar farms with fixed structures, offering capacities of 8.2 megawatts and 6.2 megawatts, respectively.
Together, the three projects will generate clean energy sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of over 18,000 residents. Their operation will also reduce CO2 emissions by 7,500 tonnes annually.
Voltalia's CEO, Sébastien Clerc, mentioned that 461 megawatts of capacity are already operational or under construction in mainland France and French Guiana, with active development underway for a pipeline exceeding 2 gigawatts.
