BKW has signed a significant 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with CCE Holding, a German-Austrian solar developer, for a 42 MW solar plant in Lazio, Italy.
This marks BKW's largest contract in Italy to date and demonstrates its commitment to the country's energy transition.
The agreement covers electricity from the CCE Montalto Di Castro solar plant, which will produce around 65 GWh annually—enough to power over 26,000 Italian households. The plant is expected to start operations next year and will contribute significantly to Italy's renewable energy capacity.
Amanda Niklaus, Head of Origination for Central and Southern Europe, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its role in expanding BKW’s renewable energy portfolio and advancing decarbonization goals.
Martina Nicodemo, Commodity Originator for Italy, highlighted the successful collaboration and innovative approach in structuring the deal, which aligns renewable energy projects with the needs of forward-thinking buyers.
