Canadian Solar has announced its plans to build a 5 GW solar PV wafer production facility in Thailand.
The facility will be established to enhance its supply chain in the country, which is expected to begin production in early 2024. The company will manufacture solar wafers which will be used in its cell manufacturing plant in the country.
According to the company statement, the “new facility will serve as a key milestone in diversifying and strengthening Canadian Solar’s supply chain, and complementing its investments in solar cell and module manufacturing.”
So far, Canadian Solar has delivered over 102 GW of solar photovoltaic modules. As one of the world’s largest solar technology and renewable energy companies, it is a pioneer name in developing solar power and battery storage projects as well.
It informed that the wafers will be used after Canadian Solar’s cell factory in Indiana starts operation.
