Portugal-based independent energy producer Capwatt has been hired to build a 7.2-MWp solar farm at sustainable wood solutions provider Sonae Arauco’s plant in Valladolid, northwest Spain.
The planned facility, scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2025, will be deployed under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It will have more than 13,000 solar panels, generating enough power to meet 25% of the electricity needs of the Valladolid industrial site.
The project, which will eliminate 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, is part of Sonae Arauco’s carbon neutrality strategy.
Founded in 2008, Capwatt offers integrated energy solutions. It is present in Portugal, Mexico, Spain and Italy.
