MYTILINEOS, a leading energy company, has inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the green energy generated from a 262 MW solar portfolio located in Larissa prefecture, Greece. Under the terms of the agreement, MYTILINEOS will have access to 80% of the energy produced, bolstering its green supply basket
The portfolio comprises 35 solar projects with a total budget of 180 million euros, developed by KARATZIS as a strategic investment plant. The construction has been entrusted to MYTILINEOS M Renewables, renowned internationally for its expertise in sustainable development and environmental protection.
Expected to commence operation in the third quarter of 2024, these solar farms are projected to annually produce 380 GWh of energy, equivalent to the consumption of 97,000 households in Greece. This will result in the displacement of approximately 162,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
MYTILINEOS’ strategic focus on securing green PPAs aims to reduce energy costs for its assets and business partners while promoting sustainable development in the region. This marks the company’s second PPA signed in Greece this year, following an agreement with EDP Renewables in February 2023.
KARATZIS’ active investment in renewable energy projects and Battery Storage Systems further strengthens and expands MYTILINEOS’ green energy portfolio.
With this latest development, MYTILINEOS continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable practices and renewable energy initiatives, both domestically and internationally.
