Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), acting on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has entered into a preferred supplier agreement (PSA) with LS Marine Solution for the 1 GW Haesong offshore wind project in South Korea.
Under the terms of the PSA, LS Marine Solution will serve as the preferred contractor for subsea cable installation, covering a comprehensive range of services including marine surveys, cable laying and burial, as well as cable testing.
The Korean marine engineering company has indicated plans to deploy its newly built cable laying vessel (CLV) for the execution of this large-scale offshore wind development.
The Haesong wind project is slated for construction off the western coast of Shinan County in Jeonnam Province and will be implemented in two 504 MW phases—Haesong 1 and Haesong 3.
CIP has several offshore wind projects in South Korea, including the 96 MW Jeonnam 1 offshore wind farm that recently achieved commercial operation. That project is co-owned with SK Innovation E&S, and LS Marine Solution was among the suppliers involved in its successful delivery.
Additionally, LS Cable & System—the parent company of LS Marine Solution—has recently secured two more preferred supplier agreements with CIP for other offshore wind projects in the country, namely the Haewoori Offshore Wind 3 project and the 504 MW Taenan offshore wind farm.
