COWI has secured a deal for the 450MW Sceirde Rocks offshore wind project in Ireland.
The company has been selected as designer for the project located off the coast. The project will be based in the North Atlantic Ocean to the west of Galway. Corio Generation is the project developer.
According to the company, it will provide a pre-front end engineering design for the Sceirde Rocks development.
Besides, it will support the project developer in the “early design of the foundations in preparation for an auction application for the offshore competition under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (ORESS-1) in Ireland.”
Damian McGirr, Senior Market Director, was quoted, “COWI will supply the Pre-FEED design, which will enable Corio to approach potential suppliers for quotes for the project’s implementation.”
He further stated that the company will utilize its global expertise to ensure the best results for Sceirde Rocks windfarm.
He was further quoted, “At COWI we are expand our portfolio in this space, as it is paramount that we utilise our offshore wind resource to create sustainable solutions to supply renewable energy as we strive to reach the Net Zero target.”
It has been informed that this project is currently in permitting stage, and it will be developed in a single phase.
