According to data given by the Czech Solar Association (Solárič Asociace), 696 MW of new solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity were installed in Czechia in 2025. This outcome shows continued industry adaptation to shifting subsidy policies and improved commercial and utility project delivery, even though it is a decrease from the 967 MW installed in 2024.
Even though home installations have drastically decreased, solar remains an essential component of the nation's energy transition, with cumulative solar capacity currently at about 5.5 GW.
Residential Systems experienced a significant decline, making up only 251 MW of the total as homes withdrew in reaction to frequent suspensions and cuts to subsidy programs.
The commercial and industrial (C&I) With the help of existing incentives and financing options, the segment led expansion, adding around 370 MW over about 3,000 projects.
Utility-Scale Projects supplied about 75 MW, demonstrating consistent advancement on larger ground-mounted systems in spite of grid connection and permitting challenges.
Despite the fact that 2025 was a year of upheaval, business executives are nevertheless upbeat. Krěmła pointed out that additional solar growth could be sparked by the new Czech government's clearer policy direction, especially with regard to solar subsidies and expedited permitting. Gigawatt-scale utility projects are already underway, and many businesses anticipate that, assuming regulatory support holds stable, capacity additions this year will at least match last year's pace.
Even as the sector moves toward increasing commercial and utility-scale prominence, businesses with demonstrated project execution experience are positioned to drive the next wave of installations as solar continues to gain a larger share of Czechia's generating mix.
