
DTEK Renewables International (DRI), the EU renewables arm of Ukrainian energy leader DTEK, has signed Romania’s largest physical solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with OMV Petrom S.A., the leading energy producer in Southeastern Europe.
This 8.5-year PPA includes three agreements for 100GWh of electricity annually at a fixed rate, covering both physical electricity delivery and Guarantees of Origin.
Starting January 2026: OMV Petrom will purchase 62% of energy from DRI's Glodeni I & II solar plants (113MWp total).
From January 2027: 50% of energy from the Vacaresti solar plant (126MWp) will also be supplied, with construction beginning in 2025.
John Stuart, CEO of DRI, highlighted the significance of this milestone:“This agreement is the largest physical solar offtake deal in Romania and a major step forward for renewable energy growth in the region. It underlines the competitiveness of clean energy and supports Romania’s energy transition while aligning with OMV Petrom’s strategic goals.”
Uncontracted energy will be sold on the market by DTEK’s subsidiary D.TRADING.
DRI’s Romanian portfolio totals 299MW, including the country’s first wind farm in a decade. The company is targeting 1GW of renewables and battery storage in Romania by 2030 and a 5GW portfolio across its markets globally.2030 and a 5GW portfolio across its markets globally.
