Edify Energy Pty Ltd has submitted a proposal to the Australian federal government for a large-scale solar and battery project in Victoria. The company plans to construct the Muskerry Solar Farm, which will generate up to 250 MW of solar power and be paired with an 800 MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) with a four-hour discharge capacity to support energy storage and grid stability.
The project is located across a 1057-hectare site about 30 km east of Bendigo, Victoria, within the Campaspe and Bendigo Shire Councils. The land is currently used for cropping and sheep grazing, which Edify Energy intends to continue after the site is commissioned.
The proposal is under review according to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, which assesses the project's environmental impact, especially regarding any potential harm to nationally significant species.
The solar park will consist of two sections, Muskerry North and Muskerry South, and will connect to a 220-kV transmission network crossing the project area. Construction is expected to take around 12 months, and once operational, the solar farm will produce around 612,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to supply approximately 93,000 households.
This project emphasizes Edify Energy's efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure while minimizing environmental impacts through careful planning and review.
