EDPR inks PPA for 44-MWp solar project in Japan

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Thursday that it has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in Japan to sell the output of a 44-MWp solar project in Fukushima Prefecture.

The renewable energy company did not mention the name of the off-taker and revealed only that it is a major technological company.

EDPR expects the solar project, located in a former golf course, to be up and running in 2025.

With a net-zero target for 2050, Japan estimates it will have around 10 GW of onshore wind and 43 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) installed by 2030.

The Portuguese renewables company currently has more than 1.5 GWp of committed solar capacity in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, it noted.
