Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a pivotal meeting focusing on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates in the realm of new and renewable energy. The session, attended by key officials including Sultan Al Jaber, UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, underscored a shared commitment to advancing the localization of renewable energy industries.
Madbouli emphasized the strategic importance of integrating substantial amounts of renewable energy into Egypt’s electrical grid. He highlighted the agreement with Minister Sultan Al Jaber to develop an ambitious implementation plan aimed at swiftly achieving this goal while boosting the local manufacturing of technologies such as solar panels and wind energy components.
“The future of Egypt’s energy sector hinges on embracing new and renewable sources,” stated Prime Minister Madbouli, emphasizing the critical role of private sector partnerships in executing these initiatives effectively.
Minister Sultan Al Jaber echoed these sentiments, affirming the feasibility and necessity of resolving Egypt’s energy challenges through collaborative efforts. He outlined cooperative mechanisms across short, medium, and long terms to achieve sustainable solutions for Egypt’s energy needs.
The meeting also addressed the significant increase in Egypt’s energy consumption, underscoring the urgency to implement renewable energy solutions. Prime Minister Madbouli reaffirmed strong bilateral ties and ongoing cooperation with the UAE to implement targeted projects benefiting both nations.
The collaboration aims to introduce 4 gigawatts of renewable energy into Egypt’s grid by next summer, marking a significant step towards energy sustainability and economic development in the region.
