Ekhi, the Spain-based solar business of Dutch energy transition platform Return, has announced the acquisition of two solar photovoltaic projects in the Zaragoza province of Spain, adding over 44 MW to its growing portfolio in the country.
The projects were purchased from Spanish solar contractor Enerland, with financing provided by Banco Sabadell. Although financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the solar farms are expected to generate around 86 GWh of electricity annually.
The projects, acquired at the ready-to-build stage, will see Enerland stay on board to oversee their construction and bring them online, according to a report from Europa Press.
Primarily recognized for its focus on self-consumption and distributed generation projects, Ekhi highlighted that this acquisition represents the largest project in its Spanish portfolio to date. The solar plants will be connected to the grid and will supply electricity to the wholesale market, as reported by Europa Press.
