Poland’s energy storage sector continues to gain momentum as Electrum has been selected to deliver a major battery project for Green Capital.
The project involves the construction of an 80 MW / 320 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Lwówek Śląski, Lower Silesia. Under a full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, Electrum will be responsible for the complete delivery of the facility, including design, construction, and grid integration.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning expected in the third quarter of 2027.
The project will incorporate Electrum’s proprietary digital solutions to optimise system performance, highlighting the increasing role of smart energy management in utility-scale storage deployments.
In addition to EPC delivery, the agreement includes a five-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract, as well as a long-term service agreement (LTSA), ensuring operational reliability and cost predictability over the project’s lifecycle.
Green Capital, part of the Sun Capital Polska group, is actively expanding its renewable and storage portfolio across multiple international markets, including Poland, South Africa, and Argentina.
Meanwhile, Electrum continues to strengthen its position in the clean energy sector, with over 4 GW of wind and solar capacity delivered and more than 3 GW currently under management.
This project reflects a broader trend across Europe, where large-scale battery storage is becoming a critical enabler for renewable energy integration, grid stability, and energy system flexibility.
