German wind and solar parks operator Encavis AG today announced the acquisition of a 28-MW solar park project in the Spanish region Castile and Leon, keeping the value of the purchase under wraps.
The photovoltaic (PV) scheme was sold by ILOS Projects GmbH, a Karlsruhe, Germany-based project developer and independent power producer and an existing partner of Encavis.
Currently under development, the solar park in the Valladolid region of northwestern Spain is due to enter construction shortly and is planned to start feeding electricity into the grid at the end of next year. Its annual output of over 50 GWh will be supplied to large industrial clients.
The deal follows Encavis’ acquisition of a 55-MW ready-to-build solar park in Andalusia from Britain’s Hive Energy last November and aligns with its 2027 goal for having a 8-GW fleet of European wind and solar assets. It has also expanded the German firm’s solar portfolio in Spain to 583 MW.
“This brings us a big step closer to our goal of bundling several solar parks in Spain and then signing an attractive joint Power Purchase Agreement (PPA),” said Mario Schirru, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Encavis.
