UK-based independent power producer Elements Green has tapped China’s Envision Energy as the hardware supplier for its 400-MW/1,600-MWh Stadorf battery energy storage system (BESS) project in northern Germany, the companies said on Monday.
Envision Energy will deliver an integrated storage solution based on its Gen 8 BESS platform, incorporating battery technology, AI-enabled energy management and grid integration systems tailored to German regulatory and technical requirements, the statement said.
“Germany is integrating more renewable energy than almost any other market in Europe, and storage is what makes that power flexible, dispatchable and genuinely useful to the grid,” commented Elements Green CEO Rasmus Friis.
Stadorf is said to be one of the largest battery storage projects currently in development in Germany. Elements Green has another German BESS project, called Alfstedt, that is also expected to reach 400 MW/1,600 MWh.
