Eskom has issued a tender for the design, supply, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 30 MW. This project will be situated near the Komati Power Station in Komati, Mpumalanga province, eastern South Africa.
The chosen EPC contractor will enter into a three-year contract, which includes a minimum of 18 months for plant operation and integration with the existing Eskom grid. The plant must feature a single-axis tracker system and have a 25-year operational lifespan.
Initial applications are due by post by October 29, with Eskom planning to send out requests for proposals in December.
In a related development, Eskom has also issued a tender for a 75 MW solar project at a coal plant.
Moreover, South Africa's seventh renewables auction has disclosed a list of bidders, featuring 40 solar project proposals totaling over 7.5 GW. The government intends to allocate 1.8 GW of solar capacity through this procurement round.
