Ethical Power Spain has secured the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for two photovoltaic projects in Spain, owned by Korkia. The combined capacity of the two projects is 9MW, and they are situated adjacent to each other in the province of Malaga, Spain.
Korkia acquired the projects in October 2023 at a ready-to-build stage from the global renewable energy developer Hive Energy. Since then, Korkia has been actively seeking a construction partner to undertake the building phase. Ethical Power emerged as the preferred contractor for its extensive experience in utility-scale solar construction and in-depth technical knowledge of the sites, stemming from a longstanding partnership with Hive Energy.
David Martinez, Country Manager of Ethical Power Spain, expressed satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased to embark on our initial projects with Korkia. Commencing preliminary works on site in March aligns with Korkia Solar Energy Fund’s ambitious delivery strategy. This marks an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our EPC capabilities as Ethical Power Spain, and we anticipate the commencement of a successful partnership with Korkia.”
Tomi Tervo, Investment Director at Korkia, commented on the collaboration, expressing pleasure in partnering with Ethical Power, recognized as a pioneer in delivering innovative energy technologies. The solar plants are anticipated to achieve an annual yield of approximately 2100 MWh per megawatt peak, a value achievable under optimal conditions in Europe.
The awarding of the EPC contract to Ethical Power Spain signifies a significant step forward for both companies in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Spain. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the realization of Korkia’s solar projects, showcasing the expertise and capabilities of Ethical Power Spain in the utility-scale solar construction sector.
