Eurus Energy Holdings Corp, a Japanese wind and solar power developer, has begun building a 10-MW/27.42-MWh grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) in Hokkaido.
The project, called Eurus Hokkaido Ikeda Town Battery Park, will use lithium-ion batteries and is expected to enter commercial operation in October 2027. Once completed, Eurus will manage and operate the facility through ReEra, its proprietary virtual power plant (VPP) platform.
Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the project are being provided by KYOCERA Communication Systems Co Ltd.
The facility has been selected by Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and represents Eurus Energy’s fourth BESS project in Japan, as well as its first in Hokkaido.
