France has planned to commission 2.7GW of solar PV which were awarded in latest tenders.
The recent move comes as a part of the country's efforts to accelerate renewables deployment to fight the energy crisis.
According to Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), it amended rules for CRE 4 and PPE 2 tenders to support the latest effort. It will be applicable for 2.7GW of solar and 3.4GW of wind power. Besides, it will also address hydroelectric and self-consumption resources.
It has called the power producers to apply for the modifications from 1st September.
With this, the authority further informed that “measures will enable the rapid commissioning of more than 6.1GW of renewables projects that were successful in the tenders and are currently in difficulty.”
This is a part of emergency measures opted by the government to enhance renewables generation before winter season. With this, the projects are allowed to sell electricity for 18 months before the signing of contracts.
Meanwhile, some authorities have called the government to increase its installed solar capacity to 37 GW by next 3 years.
