France shortlists developers for 1500MW AO6 Mediterranean wind tender

The French government has picked developers for the 1500MW AO6 Mediterranean floating offshore wind tender.

The prequalification announcement means the beginning of the next phase in the tender process. It will allow the pre-qualified bidders and the government to jointly work on the detailed criteria of the tender rules among others.

As per the official reports, at least 13 developers have been prequalified for the development of two 250MW projects. These projects can be expanded to 750MW each.

It has been reported that Iberdrola, Vattenfall and Ocean Winds are among those taking part as solo bidders.

Besides, the Océole tie up, a partnership between Equnior, Q Energy and Green Giraffe, and the Marine Energy Archipelago venture of TotalEnergies, Qair and Corio Generation have been pre-qualified, a report mentioned.

Likewise, BlueFloat Energy, Sumitomo Corporation and Akuo are picked in a consortium as has EDF Renewables and Maple Power.

Other bidders include RWE and marine contractor Bourbon and Shell and EnBW's Les Moulins du Leonis partnership.

The final selection will be made in 2023, while commissioning is planned for 2030.
