Malaysia’s Gentari has officially broken ground on the Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project in New South Wales, Australia.
The hybrid facility will combine a 243 MWp solar farm with a 172 MW / 409 MWh battery energy storage system, capable of delivering up to 172 MW of dispatchable clean power—enough to supply electricity to around 82,000 homes each year and cut approximately 615,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Located in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, Project Maryvale has secured a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement (LTESA), which offers an energy price floor to help reduce financial risks and support project financing.
Gentari noted that this is among the largest DC-coupled solar and battery hybrid projects currently under construction, marking a significant milestone in renewable energy and storage integration.
With Maryvale, Gentari’s clean energy portfolio in Australia now totals 814 MW of solar and hybrid projects either built or under development.
