Germany installed 1.4 GW of new solar capacity in July 2024, increasing its cumulative total to 92.23 GW. The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) reported that July's addition of 1,404.5 MW follows June's 1.3 GW and July 2023's 1.2 GW.
In the first seven months of 2024, Germany added a total of 9.34 GW of new PV capacity, compared to approximately 7.69 GW during the same period in 2023. The country's total installed PV capacity now stands at 92.23 GW, distributed across around 4.25 million PV systems.
The majority of new installations this year are concentrated in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Lower Saxony. Additionally, many of these new projects are unsubsidized and were selected through competitive tenders.
