The total investment in the project is 3,629,071 euros, 724,335 euros financed by the Granada City Council, and the rest through the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
The renovation works on the Granada Sports Palace began on April 7, have a six-month execution period, and are expected to be completed on October 6, the date of the debut of the Granada basketball team in the Endesa League.
These include the replacement of the air conditioning and ventilation systems, the rehabilitation of the bioclimatic air conditioning systems using air flows provided for in the original design of the building, the renovation of the general lighting with low-consumption LED systems with automatic switching on and off, the elimination of the use of diesel for hot water by an aerothermal system, and the installation of charging points for electric vehicles.
A major part of the renovation of the Sports Palace includes the installation of a 252.08 kW photovoltaic system for self-consumption, which will have three areas of action.
The first area of action will be on the zinc roof of the palace itself, on its south face, which has an area of approximately 1,081.58 m2, of which 572.80 m2 will be used for the installation of 230 460 W photovoltaic modules, which will provide a power of 105.8 kW. These will be installed in a coplanar structure, with the inclination provided by the roof itself, which in this case is 9º.
The second area of action will be on the new pergola that will be installed at the entrance to sector B facing west, which will have an area of approximately 1,117.75 m2, which will be used in its entirety for the installation of 270 photovoltaic modules with the same characteristics as those on the zinc roof, which will provide a power of 124.20 kW, and will be installed on a coplanar structure, with the inclination provided by the pergola itself, which will be 10º.
And the third action will be in the new south-facing pergola that will be installed at the entrance to C/ Torre de Comares, which will have an approximate surface area of 192.95 m2, with 115.70 m2 being used. 48 460 W modules will be installed, providing 22.08 kW, and a triangular structure with a 5º inclination will be used.
For fixing, a perforation of the roof is planned and a sandwich-type fixing or welding to the IPE140 strap under it is carried out. In the case of Sector B, a fixing similar to the “Z strap” is planned under the roof.
With an annual consumption of 478,695 kWh/year, the city council estimates a total saving of 56.69% from the photovoltaic installation and a monthly reduction in electricity consumption during solar hours of 80.05%. In addition, it estimates that energy savings on weekdays will be 61.68% and on holidays it will reach 44.85%.
The total investment in the project is 3,629,071 euros, of which 724,335 euros, 20%, is financed by the Granada City Council, and the rest through the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
