The French renewable energy company GreenYellow has initiated the construction of a 3.39-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Birigui, São Paulo state, as announced by the local government on Thursday.
The solar facility, with an investment exceeding BRL 16 million (USD 2.8 million/EUR 2.6 million), will consist of 4,928 solar panels. Once operational, the PV park is projected to produce approximately 6.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually.
Birigui’s leadership sees this project as a cornerstone in the municipality’s plan to encourage business growth in the clean energy sector and to leverage local resources for sustainable development. The city’s commitment to renewable energy aims to attract additional investment and bolster its role as an energy innovation hub in Brazil.
Since entering the Brazilian market in 2013, GreenYellow has consistently worked to expand the country’s renewable energy landscape.
