Hijau Raises $10 Million to Scale Distributed Solar Projects Across Indonesia

Indonesian distributed solar developer PT Investasi Hijau Selaras (Hijau) has raised US$10 million in an early-stage funding round from Singapore-based fund manager Clime Capital, through its South East Clean Energy Fund II (SEACEF II).
Founded in 2017, Hijau develops rooftop solar projects for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across Indonesia. The company operates under a zero-capital-expenditure model, allowing businesses to access solar power without making significant upfront investments in equipment.
Under its operating lease model, customers can reduce electricity costs while avoiding the financial burden of purchasing and installing solar systems. The approach also enables businesses to lower carbon emissions and improve their sustainability performance.
Hijau plans to use the new funding to accelerate its project pipeline and expand its portfolio of operational solar installations across Indonesia. A larger project portfolio is also expected to strengthen the company’s financial position and support future access to debt financing.
Victor Samuel, President Director of Hijau, said the investment will help the company expand its clean energy solutions nationwide while maintaining a focus on quality,
safety and sustainable operations.
Clime Capital’s investment highlights the growing role of private capital in Indonesia’s distributed renewable energy market. John Colombo, Clime Capital’s Country Manager for Indonesia, said early investment in commercial distributed energy can provide businesses with immediate electricity cost savings while supporting Indonesia’s broader clean energy transition.
The latest investment marks an important step for Hijau as it seeks to scale its C&I rooftop solar business and contribute to the development of Indonesia’s growing clean energy sector.
