IB vogt, an international solar developer, has been awarded a group of 48 projects as part of Pt PLN (Persero)’s Diesel Replacement Program in Indonesia. These projects, covering Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Madura regions, will involve deploying solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to reduce diesel reliance in smaller isolated grids, replacing it with clean solar energy.
PLN’s program, tendered earlier in 2023, aims for a total of 60MWp of solar and 175MWh of storage capacity. These projects will operate under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PLN.
David Ludwig, Managing Director of ib vogt APAC, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “ib vogt is delighted to have been chosen by PLN to provide a cutting-edge clean energy solution under the Diesel Replacement Program.” He emphasized the program’s significance in accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition away from diesel-fired generation and highlighted their prior experience in developing utility-scale solar projects in the country.
In collaboration with partner Nusantara Power, ib vogt will manage the delivery, operation, and financing of these systems across the Indonesian archipelago. The project portfolio is in an advanced development phase, with construction slated to commence in early 2025. These projects contribute to ib vogt APAC’s late-stage development pipeline, aiming to reach 1GW in construction and operation by 2026.
