Iberdrola has launched the operation of first solar farm in Portugal.
The commissioned project is of 187MW. It is one of the projects the company was awarded in solar auctions in 2019. In the auction, Iberdrola was the largest winning bidder in lot numbers.
According to the company, the Alcochete 2 PV plant has more than 50,500 fixed single-facial photovoltaic modules. Alcochete 2 is likely to enter commercial operation within this year.
Besides, the two other projects include the 13.51MW Conde project and the 32.89MW Alcochete 1 project. All three projects are based in the Setúbal district.
In Portugal, Iberdrola has a large commercial portfolio of customers.
Meanwhile, the Montechoro 1 (11.57MW), Montechoro 2 (24.95MW) and Carregado (64.1MW) projects are likely to be commissioned in 2023. Upon completion, Iberdrola's total PV capacity will stand at 187 MW in Portugal.
The company also has 92MW of wind power in operation.
Besides, the company informed that there will be construction of a large wind farm of 400MW which will be converted into a hybrid generation plant.
