India's Scorpius Trackers enters US solar market, targets giga-scale share

India’s Gensol Engineering Ltd has taken its solar tracker manufacturer Scorpius to the United States, setting the target for the business to supply over 2,000 MW annually by 2028.
Scorpius Trackers Inc was incorporated in the state of Delaware, and will have its first US office in California, Gensol said in a stock market filing on Tuesday.
According to Gensol, the US solar tracker market is the largest in the world, deploying over 25,000 MW annually and growing at a compound annual growth rate of more than 20%. The Indian solar engineering specialist also singled out California as “one of the most dynamic renewable energy markets globally” and the strategic location for Scorpius' US business.
Scorpius Trackers Pvt Ltd (India) specialises in making single-axis solar tracking solutions. The company was founded in 2012 and acquired by Gensol in 2023.
Shailesh Vaidya, co-founder and CEO of Scorpius Trackers Pvt Ltd (India), will also serve as the CEO of the US unit.
