Italy’s energy agency, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), has allocated 410.6 MW of renewable energy capacity in its latest, 15th, auction round, targeting projects over 1 MW.
This includes 322.2 MW for solar power across 57 locations and two wind projects with a combined capacity of 88.4 MW. Solar projects ranged in size from 1.7 MW to 40.7 MW.
In this round, developers offered discounts between 2.01% and 5.53% off the auction’s ceiling price of €0.07778/kWh, with the lowest bid at €0.07384/kWh, awarded to a 5 MW solar facility in Ancona, central Italy.
The previous auction rounds reflect similar trends. The 14th round, finalized in June, assigned 145.5 MW of solar capacity with bids discounted between 2% and 5.5%.
In February’s 13th round, 352 MW of solar and 643.9 MW of wind capacity were awarded, with bids discounted by as much as 6.39%.
In the 12th auction, completed in early October, GSE allocated 48 MW of solar and 10 MW of wind power, with discounts close to 2% on a ceiling price of €0.065/kWh.
