Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Japan's Eneos Renewable Energy Corp (ERE) for the output of a 9.5-MW solar power plant currently under construction in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
ERE said today it expects the Kudamatsu Fourth Mega Solar Power Plant, as it is named, to be up and running by November 2025.
Under the PPA, the Japanese company will supply around 20,000 MWh of renewable energy per year to Amazon. This volume is equivalent to the amount needed to power 4,800 ordinary households annually.
Quoting data from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, ERE noted that Amazon is the largest corporate renewable energy off-taker in Japan, having enabled 20 solar projects.
