KAB joins hands with Nextgreen Global Bhd for solar power purchase in Malaysia



Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB) has entered into a partnership with Nextgreen Global Bhd for solar power purchase.

The energy solution provider company signed 20-year solar power purchase agreements with Nextgreen Pulp and Paper Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

According to the company statement, it will design, construct, install, own, operate, and maintain solar PV systems with total combined capacity of 3,387-kilowatt peak (kWp).

The rooftop solar will be used in different production plants and buildings at Nextgreen’s Green Technology Park in Pekan, Pahang. It has been informed that Nextgreen will also purchase the generated solar PV energy.

The company shared that the solar PV systems will be installed in two phases, the first one with an installed capacity of 2,507 kWp followed by 880 kWp.

As per KAB managing director Datuk Lai Keng Onn, the solar PV contracts will enhance the energy efficiency and sustainability of its manufacturing operations and will contribute to achieve a green economy.

“We look forward to future collaborations in providing a wider range of SES (sustainable energy solution) expertise, as Nextgreen continues to develop its sustainable Green Technology Park,” he was quoted in the statement.

He further stated, “This will enable us to contribute as an integral solution provider to Nextgreen’s pioneering model to integrate renewable energy and zero-waste technology for sustainable industries in Malaysia.”

The company informed that its sustainable energy solution segment has 11 operational solar PV contracts in Malaysia and Thailand.
