Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a landmark agreement during the Africa-China Cooperation Summit (#FOCAC2024) in Beijing, where President Bola Tinubu is leading Nigeria's state visit. Lagos has signed an MoU with a Chinese company to deploy 50 MW of solar power at Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, and Lagos State College of Medicine.

This groundbreaking project aims to provide cleaner, more affordable electricity, significantly reducing the institutions' dependence on grid power and fossil fuels. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that this initiative reflects Lagos State’s dedication to sustainable energy as a key component of its economic growth strategy.

President Tinubu, who witnessed the signing, highlighted the crucial role of such partnerships in Nigeria's energy transition. This move aligns with Lagos State’s vision to lead in renewable energy, bolster energy security, and cut its carbon footprint, marking a significant step towards a greener future for Nigeria.
