Leroy Merlin Installs Nearly 4 MWp Rooftop Solar Systems Across Spanish Stores

Spanish solar self-consumption specialist Monticell has finalised the installation of rooftop arrays totalling close to 4 MWp for French home furnishings retailer Leroy Merlin in Spain.

Monticell said on Wednesday it had completed the assignment under the EPC contract, installing a total of 9,048 solar panels on the rooftops of ten Leroy Merlin’s shops across the country.

The contractor expects all systems to be connected by the end of April. Once online, the solar panels will be capable of producing more than 5 GWh of electricity per year, reducing Leroy Merlin’s carbon footprint and providing energy bill savings for over two decades, according to Monticell.

Monticell is part of Spanish solar solutions contractor Enerland Group and operates as its industrial self-consumption installation division. Monticell says it earned EUR 37 million (USD 40.1m) in revenues in 2023 and built more than 81 systems totalling over 45 MW throughout Spain.
