
Lightsource BP is all set to start the construction contracts for 61MWp solar project.
It will be the largest ever UK solar project of the company. The project will be located at at Tiln Farm, Retford, while construction of the project will begin in November.
According to the company, the project will generate 50GWh of renewable energy. The produced power will be sold to Forterra for 15 years under the corporate power purchase agreement.
Lightsource bp informed that the project will have its investment of over £40 million. The company has placed the UK a key market to help it achieve its global ambitions to develop 25GW by 2025.
Lightsource bp CEO of EMEA and APAC Kareen Boutonnat was quoted, “Deploying solar in the UK is a key aspect of combatting the energy crisis – the fact that we can deliver a +60MWp project like Tiln in under a year is critical. The addition of battery storage is another vital development, helping to dispatch solar to the grid during periods of peak demand.”
The company plans to continue support the UK’s low-carbon transition and climate targets.
Louise Kingham, bp’s head of UK, commented, “Today’s announcement is an important milestone and critically one step closer to getting another UK solar farm up and running.”
