LOF International Dairy Factory Develops 5 MWp Rooftop Solar Project to Support ESG and Decarbonization Goals

Vietnam-based LOF International Dairy Factory has begun implementing a 5 MWp rooftop solar power project as part of its broader strategy to increase renewable energy utilization, improve operational efficiency, reduce energy costs, and advance its environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives.

The rooftop solar project represents an important step in LOF’s sustainability roadmap, integrating renewable energy generation directly into its manufacturing operations. By utilizing available rooftop space at its dairy production facility, the company aims to increase the share of clean electricity used in its industrial activities while reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

The project is being developed in partnership with Vietnam-Singapore Smart Energy Solutions Joint Stock Company (VSSES), while SolarBK has been appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. SolarBK will oversee the project’s full technical implementation, including system design, equipment supply, construction activities, testing, and commissioning to ensure the successful deployment of the rooftop solar installation.

According to LOF, the first phase of the project is expected to generate approximately 3.82 million kWh of clean electricity annually, helping the company reduce carbon emissions by around 2,515 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent each year. Over the system’s estimated 25-year operational lifetime, the installation is projected to generate more than 82 million kWh of renewable electricity and avoid approximately 54,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

By integrating solar power into its factory operations, LOF aims to enhance energy efficiency across its manufacturing processes while supporting long-term emissions reduction targets. The project is expected to contribute to a more sustainable production model by combining renewable energy adoption with improved operational performance.

LOF stated that the rooftop solar initiative reflects the company’s commitment to incorporating renewable energy solutions into its industrial activities as part of its wider sustainability strategy. The company emphasized that the project aligns with its ESG objectives by delivering both environmental benefits and long-term business value through improved energy management and reduced operating costs.

Once the planned 5 MWp rooftop solar capacity is fully completed, the project is expected to further increase renewable electricity consumption within LOF’s manufacturing operations, supporting the company’s decarbonization efforts and contributing to its long-term sustainability targets.

The project also reflects a wider trend among industrial companies in Southeast Asia, where manufacturers are increasingly adopting rooftop solar solutions to reduce emissions, manage energy costs, and strengthen corporate sustainability commitments. As renewable energy becomes a key component of industrial competitiveness, rooftop photovoltaic systems are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting corporate decarbonization strategies.
