Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) is all set to develop a project to generate around 26,546.45 MWh of electricity annually in Malaysia.
Malakoff is a leading energy company in Malaysia, which is committed for the country’s National Energy Transition Roadmap.
The company’s subsidiary Malakoff Radiance inked a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with the DRB-HICOM group of companies for the same. It includes the development, operation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems across fourteen locations in Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Melaka, and Pahang.
The project will have a combined capacity of 20.78 MWp. The project aims to reduce annual carbon emissions by an impressive 20,706 tCO2e.
As per a local report, it aligns with Malakoff’s aspiration to achieve a 500 MW target of solar projects within the Albukhary Group of Companies.
Encik Anwar Syahri Abdul Ajib, the MD/CEO of Malakoff shared that the company aims to become a leading provider of commercial solar energy solutions within the country.
“This Solar Power Purchase Agreement exemplifies Malakoff’s steadfast commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 7, which strives to ensure access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for all. With this important step, Malakoff is steering the nation towards a greener and more sustainable future,” the company official was quoted.
